  • Are inspire and expire etymologically related?

A good weekend was had by all. McGovern, you’ve been warned: I’m getting a tennis racket, then your ass is mine on the court. (P.S. I hear the new F&M courts are sweet-momma-licious.)

That was some mighty fine lasagna.

  • I ate more of the lasagna today. It continues to be delicious.

    From the OED:
    on inspire
[a. OF. enspirer, inspirer (13th c.), espirer (12th c. in Littré), ad. L. insprre to blow or breathe into, f. in- (IN-2) + sprre to breathe.]

    on expire
[ad. Fr. expirer, ad. L. ex(s)prre to breathe out, f. ex- out + sprre to breathe.]

    In short, yes, they are.

  • Klotz,

I would love it if you and your wife would come see an Orioles baseball game with me, the Grunerts, Chambers, and possibly the Sutters on Sept 7th.  Can you make it?

    Love,

    Brandon
