  • A little plug

For those of you who are disgrunted with the disproportionate influence mega-corporations exert in the world today, I just want to invite you to check out the MySpace group People vs. Corporations. We’re having a fairly active discussion right now, and we (I) could use your critical minds.

One of the primary discussions at the moment revolves around the problem that in the U.S. today a corporation, under the law, is a “person.” And as such, corporations have all the rights that people do. The dominant anti-corporate path for years has been to try to erase the legal fiction that corporations are persons (i.e. eliminate “corporate personhood”), but I recently put out for critique the suggestion that perhaps a better path would be to continue to recognize that corporations are legally “persons” but assert that they do not share the rights that citizens have.
